About us

Ray Selby

Selbys’ Antiques & Fine Art is owned by Ray Selby, a dealer in antiques and fine art for over 25 years. Ray bought his first antique at the age of 16 and it has been his passion ever since. Ray has an exceptional eye for finding the unusual and interesting and keeps up to date, or usually ahead, of the latest trends.

All stock comes from private sources and therefore generally new to the market. We buy individual items through to whole estates.

Our Showroom

Our showroom occupies an 18th century stable block providing a complimentary space to showcase quality furniture, collectables and fine art. Selbys’ aims to combine antique, contemporary and 20th Century design under one roof, showcasing how the modern and traditional style can be blended together. Taking a room that is very traditional or contemporary, and adding either modern or antique elements takes the room to a whole different level. The mix of the old and new can create an exciting, and unexpected element to any room.

The showroom is on ground floor level with ample parking outside.

Our Location

Our store is located in the picturesque village of Thornton-le-Dale, on the southern fringe of the North York Moors National Park, about two miles east of Pickering.

Thornton-le-Dale is one of the prettiest villages in Britain. A stream, Thornton Beck is running through the village and is crossed by several footbridges, and there are many charming historic buildings that add to the ambience. Beck Isle Cottage, a 17th century thatched cottage is one of the most photographed chocolate box cottage in the country. The village is also home to the Mathewsons classic car auctioner, who also hosted the TV program Bangers & Cash.

There are several cafés and pubs in the village and the area provide fantastic opportunities for walking.
